September/October 2012

September and October 2012

We are enjoying our first Fall as a family.  We have enjoyed watching the leaves fall, Dougie's first Stein Hayride, and his first time at the Renaissance Festival. Last weekend we went to the  Zoo Boo at the Detroit Zoo with Uncle Nick, Alistair, Dominic, and the Ullrey Family.  Dougie dressed up as a tiger and loved seeing all of the people dressed up for Halloween!  It was a blast!

Dougie is very social, loves daycare, and loves to play!  His favorite thing to do now is to roll over from  his back to his belly.  It won't be too long until he will be scooting around!  His favorite food right now is squash, although he also eats sweet potatoes and peas.  His other favorite activities include practicing standing up, being tickled, and chewing on everything.  He even chews on Mommy's face, but she just pretends they are kisses.

Dougie is 4 Months Old!

Our little Dougie is already 4 Months old!

We have been filling up the last days of summer with many fun activities.  We've been on picnics, to the beach, and even went to the Henry Ford Museum to see the Titanic exhibit!  Over Labor Day weekend we went on our first long car-ride as a family to Western New York.  We visited Great-Grandpa & Great-Grandma Miller at Doberdom.  Dougie loved it and did great on the trip!  On his 4-month birthday he also had his first day of daycare.  He had so much fun watching all of the other kids that he didn't want to eat or sleep!  He is a happy boy, and mommy & daddy think he will make many friends!

Busy Summer (1-3 Months)

The past two months have been a fun, happy, and busy time for the Stein Family!

Dougie has enjoyed meeting many new family members in the past couple of months, including Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa Miller.

Dougie is a very smiley boy!  He is getting bigger, stronger, and more independent every day!  Mommy and Daddy are so happy that he started sleeping through the night just before his 12-week birthday!

He loves looking at everything, going for walks, and splashing in the bathtub.

He also loves tummy time and can roll from his tummy to his back.
We are totally loving the adventure of being a family and are in awe watching Dougie learn and grow every day!  Mommy is not looking forward to leaving him in daycare in a couple of weeks, but she knows he will make many friends and is grateful she has been able to stay home with him for the last few months.

We've been having so much fun watching our baby Douglas learn and grow. We've taken some videos so our friends and family can share in the fun. Enjoy!

Douglas' 1 Month Birthday

Douglas is now 1 month old!  This past month as simply flown by for Mommy and Daddy!  Douglas has been growing so much; at his month check-up he weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces and was 21.5 inches long.  That means he grew 1.5 inches and gained almost a pound a week the last three weeks!  Wow!  Right now our favorite activities include eating, sleeping, snuggling, dancing with Mommy and Daddy, taking baths, and looking at everything!

Douglas has now met all of his aunts, uncles, and cousins!  Uncle John and Aunt Katie visited from Indiana a couple weeks ago, and Matt, Chris, and Jake were very happy to meet their new cousin!  Before we know it they will all be running around playing together!

We also had the opportunity to introduce Douglas to his Great Grandma and Grandpa Caporale and Great Aunt Sue. It was a short visit, but it was a great introduction!

Then we celebrated Uncle Nick's 30th birthday and played with  Aunt Mindy, Alistair, and Dominic.  Douglas is so lucky to have all of his boy cousins to play with and look up to!

This past week Aunt Julie flew in from Seattle and Uncle Andy flew in from Boston.  We had fun going on many walks and our first hike together at Bald Mountain State Park.

We love our little Dougie!

Photos of Douglas' First Days

Welcome Douglas William Stein

On Sunday, May 6th at 2:30 AM, Kathy's water broke while we were sleeping (don't worry, no mess!). We called our doctor right away, and she said "You're having a baby today!". After loading a few remaining things into the car, we drove to the hospital and arrived at about 3:30 AM. After a few hours of labor, our little boy arrived at 7:41 AM weighing 6 pounds and 4 ounces (small for a Stein baby!) and measuring 20 inches long. After only a few minutes, Kathy and Tony both agreed that our little boy looked like a Douglas William Stein!
